Arizona Employment Laws Clapton Commercial Construction is planning on expanding their current business to a new state. They currently do business in Michigan and are planning on expanding to Arizona. There are ten employment laws in Arizona that Clapton Commercial Construction should be made aware of in order to get their HR department up to speed before expanding to the state of Arizona. These are laws regarding required postings, minimum wage, overtime, meals and breaks, vacation leave, sick leave, holiday leave, voting leave, severance pay, and record keeping. These laws will be provided along with possible penalties for non-compliance and recommendations on how to approach these laws as they apply to Clapton Commercial Construction.†¦show more content†¦If this is not met federal penalties can be assessed by regulators. Meals and breaks are regulated by federal laws and Arizona does not have any specific state laws that apply here. Federal laws does not require an employer to provide meals or breaks to their employees. If an employer gives breaks to their employees breaks are usually less than 20 min in length and paid while meals are 30 min or more and unpaid. Since there is no specific law in providing meals and breaks there are no penalties to be assessed and it is our recommendation that you provide your employees with two 15 min paid breaks and at least a 30 min unpaid lunch each eight hour work day (Lunt Group Legal LLC., n.d.). The state of Arizona does not require its employers to provide any paid or unpaid vacation leave. If the employer decides to provide vacation leave it must be clearly documented in an employment contract or policy handbook as to how vacation time is accrued, used and lost. Second Amendment The United States of America has taken drastic steps in taking away the American peoples God given rights and Constitutional rights. The United States government is supposed to be a government of the people, by the people, for the people. There are very clear signs of a cancerous growth within our government and the citizens of America need to take preventative measures to ensure the freedom for which our founding fathers fought and died. I am speaking of numerous issues that have arisen in the United States that clearly demonstrate that our government is taking away our rights. I will hopefully be able to show a brief description of the government, as it is today and what it was designed to be. I will also describe our rights and the reasons for keeping those rights, such as the gun control laws that have been passed restricting our rights to bear arms. History serves us well in that it provides us with the facts that show increases i n crime, poverty, injustice and overall social unrest is the result of Democracy as defined by our current administration. The fact is that the governments idea of a democracy and our idea of a democracy are two different meanings entirely. I speak about this because it directly affects the way that the United States government has taken away not only your Constitutional rights but also your God given ones. I have quoted below an excerpt from a military manual that I once read that struck me as very profound. In order to understand the true meaning of the word democracy, examine the definition of the word as provided by the 1928 American Military Training Manual and then compare it with the definition of the word Republic, taken from the same manual. Now remember these definitions the next time you see a public official or anyone else for that matter, standing before the camera talking about democracy: Democracy: A government of the masses. Authority is derived through mass meeting or any other form of direct expression. Results in a mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic, negating property rights. Attitude towards law is that the will of the majority shall regulate whether it be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice and impulse without restraint or regard to consequences. Results in demagoguism, license, agitation, discontent, and anarchy. Republic: Authority is derived through the election of public officials best fitted to represent them. Attitude for property is respect for laws and individual rights, and a sensible economic procedure. Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences. A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass. Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy. Results in statesmanship, liberty, rea son, justice, contentment, and progress. (1928 American Military Training Manual) While our government was formed as a republic, we have lost that form and exchanged it for a democracy. The fact that our forefathers had set up a Republic and not a Democracy is a key to understanding the present government. Ours will be a democracy so long as our elected officials will vote which ever way the powerful winds of special interests blow, as long as they do not "administer justice in accordance with fixed principles", those principles being set forth in the Bill of Rights. The vast majority of representatives need to be removed from office and replaced with those that will do a correct and honest job without thought of personal gain. We need to set term limits to keep career politicians out of office and elect citizen politicians who are true patriots to our great nation that are trying to uphold what our forefathers had original set forth in their sacrifices as the god given rights and Constitutional rights. There are few great patriots in positions of power today. The end of the line, and I reiterate, is that we are losing all of our constitutional rights, as well as our God given rights. This did not stop cognitive psychologists Daniel Levin and Daniel Simons. They proposed that when a person meets another object, if that object is not important enough to the person, that same person will in fact pay less attention to it. They performed two experiments involving young and old subjects with a wide range of intellect. In the experiment one of the psychologists, Levin, would ask for directions from a subject (Daniel J. Simons and Daniel T. Levin 1997). Some time after the directions were asked the other psychologists, Simons, would rudely interrupt the discussion by carrying a door between the subject and Levin. During this interruption Simons would switch places with Levin and continue carrying on the discussion. Approximately 50% of the subjects noticed the difference even though both psychologists wore different attire, were of different build, had different hair cuts, and had noticeably different voices (Daniel J. Simons and Daniel T. Levin 1997). The majority of subjects that noticed a difference were roughly the same age as the psychologists. They performed this same experiment again only this time they dressed as construction workers, both different costumes. This time less than half of the subjects noticed the difference. They theorized that the younger subjects are more likely to associate them to there social group and are therefore more aware of the psychologist. The older subjects, however, most likely decided that the psychologists are merely students asking for directions so therefore are less aware of the psychologist. A major theme in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Rappaccini’s Daughter is pride. There is a lack of parental morality in this piece of work, and a sense of good is distorted by Dr. Rappaccini‘s pride. He thinks he is helping his daughter by bringing her a mate infected with her poison, but really he is taking on the role of God. His values are very low, and he has no right to interfere with his daughter’s life and happiness. He ends up indirectly killing his own daughter, and leaving her loved one in mourning. Dr. Rappaccini knows his pride because he, himself, claims that he has created â€Å"The Garden of Eden† for his daughter and her loved one. This statement is not true because Dr. Rappaccini’s garden is sewn with the roots of pride and arrogance, while the real Garden of Eden was sewn by God, with love and compassion for the two people. Dr. Rappaccini’s attempts to adjust fate in the case of the two lovers end in utter failure. This shows that only God has the right to decide our lives and our futures, and his plans are perfect because of his good intentions for us. Rappaccini’s daughter suffered social alienation because of his sick love of science. He was able to live a normal life and venture out beyond the garden walls, but the case was not the same for her. He put his love of science before his love of his daughter, which led to her doom in the end of the story.
